Venus Rising is a pulp romance-thriller that juxtaposes 1950s puritanical America with the underground lesbian scene of the same era. The series centers around Venus, an illegal, mob-run queer bar in Manhattan’s lower east side where a suburban housewife / author ventures to discover content for lesbian pulp novels. Her stories come alive in all their dangerous and passionate glory, and in her own personal life.
